A couple of months ago, I was contacted by Steve and Yvette who wanted to book a session with me. Their whole family was getting together on the Labour Day long weekend in September and that was a great opportunity to have the photoshoot. Steve and Yvette live locally, and their kids and grandkids come to visit regularly.
They have a beautiful home and above their fireplace hangs an impressive family portrait with their three daughters from twenty years ago .
The goal for our photo shoot was to update that portrait. The family grew since, and now with son in laws and grandchildren we had ten people, seven adults and three granddaughters.
I was very excited to meet the whole family and capture a photo that would be their keepsake for a long time.
The long weekend was warm and sunny. I must admit that I was hoping for some overcast to be able to shoot earlier. Mostly because it would be easier on the youngest baby girl. We didn't get any clouds at all and had to wait until early evening for the sun to start to set. But the wait was worth it. The sky and the mountains rewarded our waiting with stunning colours and they made the most beautiful backdrop ever. Here is the heirloom portrait of Steve's and Yvette's family.
I had the canvas printed and framed locally. I personally delivered and hung the enlargement with Steve's help. We have chosen a beautiful floater frame. It suited the 32" x 32" canvas perfectly. It is a modern and sleek frame but has some substance and fits the house decor beautifully. Fitted well above the fireplace and in between the built in cabinets, it really creates a great focal point.
Although the big canvas was a main purpose of this photoshoot, we found time to have more fun and create more memories. Scroll down and see for yourself.
Here is Michelle, Matt and their adorable Mavi. What a beautiful family!
Here is Rena. I loved having her in front of my camera and would love to have a special session for this stunning woman.
Last, but definitely not least, is this great looking family. Melissa, Kevin and their pretty daughters Tamia and Claudia. Can the sisters be any cuter?
The sun was setting fast, and our session was approaching the end.
I am grateful that these images will be cherished for a long time. I feel very honoured that Yvette and
Steve chose me to create their heirloom family portrait, and I hope it will bring them joy for
many years.
